Board Meeting
February 22, 2007

Minutes of Meeting

Attending: Linda Banner-Bacin, Lynnette Roth, Pat Moomey, Ken Kerr, Dawn Marie Johnson, Cindy Mastro, Ingrid Walpelhorst, and Kay Abbott.

Budget: New item added; Linda proposed the purchase of a rolling cart or case for the Librarians books. $300.00 was approved as was the budget.

Silent Auction: Cindy reported a profit of $609.00.

Newsletter: Gianna Cagliano was complimented for her efforts. The front page opinion “In the Garden” was praised and suggested to continue as a regular feature.

Speakers: March: Jim Delahanty, “Polyanthas” and April, Tony Hepton, “Soils, plant Biology”. Suggested speakers for May are Brian Quichleyfrom Agro-men on “Organics”; Carolyn Springer of Sequoia Nursery; Samantha Mooney, Paul Albright (seed company) and Oleg __________. Lynnette will call these people. Ingrid will call Tom Carruth, Weeks Roses for fall speakers.

Consulting Rosarians urged to attend our board meetings.

Santa Barbara Newsletter prints a regular statement promoting organic gardening and integrative pest management. Dawn Marie suggested that we write a note in praise of their support for good gardening. Linda suggested that we add this type of reminder to the VCRS newsletter on a regular basis.

Consulting Rosarians are required to write/publish articles according to Jim Delahanty.

Outreach Programs: $100.00 is available for this purpose. Discussion followed: Only Otto & Sons’ Rose Days was approved for outreach this year. It will be April 28-29. Dawn Marie proposed an information booth (possibly a rose sale?) at “The Lakes”, across from Gardens of the World. Membership & rose info. would be stressed. Ingrid offered to develop this. 

Business cards needed for VCRS: Ingrid will attend to this. CR’s will have their own.

Linda: Consulting Rosarians workshop to be developed in 2008. Judges Seminar to be held at Camarillo House.
